Terms of Service

Governed by the laws of England and Wales. Last updated: 8 October 2026.

Important Notice: CivicHome UK provides data aggregation software and statutory document templates. We are not a legal or tax practice. Re-banding outcomes depend entirely on independent VOA decisions.

1. Non-Advisory and Informational Nature

CivicHome UK, together with all present and future automated tools, digital reports, templates and algorithmic assessments made available under the CivicHome UK name (the "Service"), is strictly a software-based data compilation and workflow utility.

CivicHome UK is not a law firm, solicitor, chartered surveyor, valuer, tax adviser or financial adviser, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), HM Government or any UK local authority.

Nothing provided through the Service constitutes legal, surveying, valuation, tax or financial advice. Any estimates (including 1991 values, band comparisons and refund figures) are indicative only. You should obtain independent professional advice before relying on any output.

2. Disclaimers and No Outcome Guarantee

Council tax banding and any reclassification are at the sole statutory discretion of the relevant VOA Listing Officer and, on appeal, the Valuation Tribunal.

CivicHome UK makes no representation, warranty or guarantee that any proposal prepared with the Service will result in a band reduction, refund or any favourable outcome. A proposal may result in a band being confirmed or increased, and may affect neighbouring properties.

You alone decide whether to submit a proposal and you accept full responsibility for its accuracy, its submission to the VOA and any consequences. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Limitation of Liability and Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CivicHome UK, its owners, operators, officers, contractors and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss or damage, including (without limitation) band increases, backdated council tax liabilities, penalties, disputes with councils or the VOA, loss of profit, data or opportunity, arising from or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, the Service.

In all circumstances, our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you actually paid for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim (for example, £24.99).

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CivicHome UK and the persons above from any claims, losses or costs arising from your use of the Service, your submissions to any authority, or your breach of these terms.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law, nor does it affect your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

4. Future Products and Scope

These terms, including all disclaimers and limitations of liability, automatically apply to any and all current and future software features, algorithmic audits, APIs, reports and digital tools released under the CivicHome UK platform, without exception, unless separate terms are expressly stated for that product.

5. Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence within the UK.
